One special item on Sue Randall’s bucket list was the desire to participate in a mission trip once her children were off to college. Because Ardent offers its employees an amazing benefit with paid community service hours, she was able to easily cross that item off her list earlier this year.
Sue, currently a Program Manager, has been with Ardent for 12 years. And while she has longed to join a mission trip for some time, her experience in learning and development revealed where she could really make a difference.
“Working for Ardent has given me the opportunity to see how Train-the-Trainer sessions could be most effective,” said Sue. “I have an educational skill set that could be utilized to impact lives; I had to give back.”
Thanks to her church partnering with an organization called Living Waters for the World, Sue was able to give back in a big way.
Living Waters for the World has an inspiring mission to empower everyday people to change lives through clean water. They accomplish this by partnering with international communities to install and sustain water purification systems, as well as establish health training and education programs in these areas.
In February 2020, Sue was part of the Education Group that traveled to San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala to install a water purification system.
“Once you see how grateful the church members are and the lasting impact on community health, it just warms your heart,” said Sue.
Community service is a core component of Ardent’s values. CEO Rich Fox believes the benefit gives Ardent employees a level of satisfaction that can only be found outside of their normal day-to-day.
“Running a business is about a lot more than the bottom line,” said Rich. “Ardent takes our responsibility to support our people and communities very seriously. We want to provide our team the time and space to volunteer in a way that is most meaningful for them.”
